    The aim of this course is to develop the skills of existing electricians to include the installation and maintenance of single electric vehicle charging units in domestic properties and small commercial premises. This course has been created to help standardise working practices across an exciting new industry by helping to reduce the risks of unsafe and inefficient practices.

    This course is designed to give delegates a a fundamental understanding on how to design and install domestic and small commercial electric vehicle charging equipment.

     
    • Understanding requirements relating to electric vehicle charging equipment.
    • Understand different types and features of electric vehicle charging equipment.
    • Designing an installation for electric vehicle charging equipment.
    • Understand requirements for inspection, testing, commissioning, and handover of electric vehicle charging equipment and circuits.
    • Understand the use of vehicles as electrical energy storage systems as part of prosumer’s installations.

    This course is aimed at delegates who are already experienced in electrical installation practices, inspection and testing, and certification of electrical installations.

    Delegates MUST hold one of the below pre-requisites:

    • 2357 Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures, and the Environment)
    • 2357 Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Maintenance)
    • 5357 Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification
    • 2356 Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services Experienced Worker
    • 2346 Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification

     

    Other awarding organisation equivalences will also be acceptable.

    • Equivalent historical qualifications

    OR

    • ECS Gold Card, JIB Electrician, or Approved Electrician Card

     

    If your qualification from the list above is more than 5 years old, you MUST show an 18th Edition qualification to show you are up to date with the latest regulations.

    Please note: Delegates must be a minimum age of 18 years old to take part in this course.

    You will need a copy of: Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation 5th Edition (IET Standards) - ISBN-13: 978-1-83953-857-5, and Requirements for Electrical Installations, IET Wiring Regulations, 18th Edition ((BS7671:2018+A2:2022) IET Standards) ISBN-13: 978-1-83953-218-4.

    Delegates who have basic knowledge and understanding of domestic electrical installations would be best suited to attend the Domestic Electric Vehicle Charging Point Installers - City & Guilds Level 3 (2919-02)

    This course is designed to replace the existing Level 3 Award in Design and Installation of Domestic and Small Commercial Electric Vehicle Charging - City & Guilds Level 3 (2921-31) as of October 2024.
